Center for Surface Engineering Zaawansowane systemy wytwarzania i materiały

The Center for Surface Engineering operating under UTP University of Science and Technology in Bydgoszcz has so far focused on:

  1. Cooperation with the Faculty of Electronics of Wrocław University of Science and Technology in the field of development of technologies for obtaining layers of titanium oxide and titanium nitride of a certain chemical composition and colour, by means of laser ablation method.
  2. Production of layers based on TiOx and TiNx vapor deposition method and the ion sputtering method in the Laboratory of Surface Engineering of the UTP University of Science and Technology in Bydgoszcz.
  3. Analysis of the optical properties of titanium oxide and titanium nitride layers in Center for Surface Engineering to determine correlation between  thickness of TiOx and TiNx layers and colour.
  4. Topography analysis of the TiOx and TiNx surfaces by means of: Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM), Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) and confocal microscopy.
  5. Analysis of chemical composition of surface layers of  TiOx and TiNx by means of photoelectron spectroscopy.
  6. Depth profile analysis of chemical composition by means of the ion sputtering of the surface layers of TiOx and TiNx.

Activities of the Centre for Surface Engineering at the UTP University of Science and Technology in Bydgoszcz planned for 2017:

  1. Continuation of  cooperation with the Faculty of Electronics of Wrocław University of Science and Technology on developing the technology used in obtaining layers of titanium oxide and titanium nitride (preparing joint projects).
  2. Cooperation with  Military Aviation Company No. 2 in Bydgoszcz in the field of research on the chemical composition of the surface layers of  composite materials.
  3. Obtaining layers of TiOx and TiNx by means of vapor deposition  and the ion sputtering method in the Laboratory of Surface Engineering of the UTP University of Science and Technology in Bydgoszcz.
  4. Analysis of optical properties of composite materials used in aviation.
  5. Examination of topography and chemical composition of layers of composite materials layers used in aviation.
